Pro-crypto members of the French Parliament want the country to invest 500 million euros in blockchain programs to make France a “blockchain nation.”

Jean-Michel Mis and Laure de La Raudière released a report on December 12th listing 20 proposals to support the development and mainstream adoption of blockchain.

“2019 will be the year of the blockchain in France,” Jean-Michel Mis said in the report, according to a rough translation. “This 10-year technology is moving out of the experimental stage into industrial implementation. The public will see the emergence of its uses in their daily lives.”

Also, Laure de La Raudière expressed urgency about the need for France to capitalize on this new technology before its international rivals do so. She said France was late to the Internet revolution in the 1990s noting that the mistake shouldn’t be repeated again.

de La Raudière said to French financial website Journal du Net: “France must have a conquering philosophy on this subject, I’m sounding the alarm: It is time to invest…We must accelerate with French and European public money.”

Following this development, Jean-Michel Mis and Laure de La Raudière suggested that the French National Research Agency (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) should make reasonable and encouraging investment in blockchain research.
