IBM Launches 'Farmer Connect' Blockchain App to Track Coffee Supply

IBM and Farmer Connect – an organization committed to increasing transparency and sustainability in agriculture supply chains – demoed a blockchain-based app that allows consumers to learn about the coffee beans they purchase. “Thank My Farmer” mobile app provides consumers with an interactive map to show the journey of their coffee.

App is powered by IBM’s blockchain technology, which creates a permanent digitized chain of transactions that cannot be altered — tracking each step of a coffee bean’s journey.

The large success recorded by Blockchain tech has made many tech giants pick interest in the technology with many investing millions of Dollars into the innovation. IBM as one of such companies investing in Blockchain has made some giant strides in the emerging technology sector.
