Jay Mazini an Instagram Influencer duped followers of $2.5M BTC

In an alleged Bitcoin wire transfer scheme, a social media influencer known for cash give away, has failed to show the money.

After allegedly scamming his followers out of $2.5 million worth of Bitcoin, the Instagram influencer has been charged with wire fraud.

Having previously boasted of a networth of $33 million and reputable for Cash giveaways, the department of justice, is accusing Jay Mazini of wire fraud scheme, in which he scammed one million of his followers. Jay Mazini told his followers to send Bitcoin in exchange of inflated cash offers and which he defaulted.

Following a complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, the DOJ announced the charges on March 24. However, FBI is still investigating the case.

According to William F. Sweeney:

 “Igbara’s social media persona served as a backdrop for enticing victims to sell him their Bitcoin at attractive, but inflated, values. A behind-the-scenes look, however, revealed things aren’t always as they seem. There was nothing philanthropic about the Bitcoin transactions Igbara engaged in with his victims.”
