Police To Get Cryptocurrency Training To Fight Scammers In India

Officers with High ranks in the Indian police are to be trained on cryptocurrencies and blockchain to help them combat the growth in criminal activities in these areas.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy which is in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, a major hub for the country’s technology industry, will deliver a two-day course on “investigation of cases involving cryptocurrencies”.

Candidates for the training will be given an introductory course on the functioning of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. After this, they will be introduced to the legal aspects of digital assets and the types of crimes committed using them. Then finally on how to investigate such criminal activity.

Indian regulators and government officials have become so weak on their quest for a legal framework for cryptocurrencies.

Efforts to impose appropriate rules have not deterred criminal activity involving crypto-assets. In January Indian crypto-scammers stole $2 million in a ponzi scheme.
